Why am I shaped so weirdly?

Yesterday, my mom and I embarked on a dangerous adventure.

We went shopping for business clothes. For me.

Leggings, dresses, tunics, and fun jewelry would not be on our agenda.

Instead, we went to my favorite mall searching for suits, skirts, pants (!), and any and all clothes deemed "professional" and/or "business appropriate."

Blaaaaah.

Boring, boring, boring.

I must admit, the day started off surprisingly well at Ann Taylor. I found a beautiful "business" dress that I felt comfortable and pretty in. We also purchased a lovely top at Ann Taylor and received 40% off our (okay, my mom's) purchase.

We then set off for Macy's in pursuit of the perfect suit.

This is where things began to crumble.

We found lots of cute suits out on the racks, and I ventured off into the dressing room.

Almost all of the suit skirts and bottoms would not come past my hips. I had to go up two (!!!!) sizes for them to cross the expansive boundary known as my wide hips. Then, they were huge and baggy everywhere besides my hips and butt where they were pulled tight.

"I had no idea you had such a big butt," my mom commented in a matter-of-fact manner.

How had she missed that HUGE physical detail of mine?

Besides the bottom drama, the suit jackets I tried on fit fine in my regular size. The sleeves were just too long.

How had my body become so awkward in a mere minutes? The doctor had always complimented me on my "well-proportioned" shape!

We ended up leaving the mall sans suit.

Well, my mom found one that fit her stunningly.

It must be nice being 5'9" and slim.

In happier mall news, I did pass this AMAZING advertisement at Victoria's Secret.

Free advertising! I can dig that.

Lately...

I've just about deserted my Macbook and become best friends with my iPad.

I have gotten REALLY good at writing cover letters.

I bought a pretty pair of running shoes and have actually been jogging around the neighborhood! Yes, those are pigs flying outside of your window.

My actual shoes. They're fluorescent! No cars will be hitting me!

I've been a terrible blogger. Forgive me?

I went to my first bachelorette party. It was just as wild and crazy as I anticipated but even more fun.

My best friends from Chicago are visiting Ohio for the first time next weekend, and I couldn't be more excited! :)

These are just some of the tidbits of advice I've been given over my years of singletonhood. 

As an incredibly impatient individual who goes after what she wants, they are just about impossible for me to follow.

When I like a guy, I am not going to sit around waiting for him to call or text me. I don't take on an unaffected air around him or act like an ice queen. And I definitely do not have a problem sending the occasional text to him first.

Why does dating have to be such a game?

In one of my courses last quarter, I heard a male classmate tell his friend how he had had an incredible date with a girl he really liked but he would "wait at least three days to call."

Say whaaat?!

I don't understand why everyone has to eternally be playing hard to get. 

What if I don't want to play this game?

Of course, I am the singleton.

So maybe I'm the one who is going about things wrong.

A Very Apple Spring

My Macbook and iPod welcomed two new members to their family.

It's been just the two of them for four years now so they're still adjusting.

A few weeks ago, I FINALLY got an iPhone (which I absolutely adore and cannot stop admiring. Yes. I am like that obnoxious parent who thinks her child is perfect), and this past Saturday, my parents gave me my graduation gift...the new iPad!

I seriously cannot believe how cool it is.

Or how amazing my Draw Something pictures now are.

Just call me Jennacaso, if you please!

As of now, I've really just been reading with the Kindle app (so convenient!), browsing the web, and playing Draw Something.

Oh, what an exciting life I lead!

iPad owners out there- are there any apps I must have? Or anything I must use my iPad to do?

"But I don't own pants!"

Last night, my roommates (all business majors) were prepping me for my first interview in the business world.

After they had quizzed me with popular interview questions and taught me some proper business etiquette, my one roommate asked, "So what are you going to wear?"

Before I could describe the outfit I had envisioned, consisting of a plain yet chic black dress, perfectly draped purple scarf, and leggings, my roommates said, "And you know you can't wear leggings."

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?!

"But I don't own pants!" I responded back in a panic.

"Wear a skirt then."

The sad thing was, I also did not own any business appropriate skirts.

"Let's go look through my closet," my roommate suggested helpfully.

Feeling a bit relieved, we went upstairs where we rummaged through her business attire. She handed me a beautiful suit that was a little big on her (she's much skinnier than me, especially in the hips and butt), and I went back down to my bedroom feeling optimistic.

While the jacket fit fine, the pants would not button.

My situation was growing more dire by the second. I was doomed.

I went to bed not having a clue as to what I'd wear this morning. I woke up early and looked through my closet until I found a pretty, blue, ruffled button-up from H&M, a professional looking, gray jumper from Kohl's, black stockings, and black flats.

I felt business appropriate while still feeling like myself. It was a nice little mesh-up.

Of course, as soon as I got home, I changed into a pair of leggings.

You know, leggings love and all that jazz.

Get me out of this book!

About a month ago, Amazon recommended a book to me.

It was titled From Notting Hill with Love...Actually.

Such a cute cover!

I just about fainted with delight in front of my computer screen and wasted no time ordering a copy from the UK.

Oh, I was so excited.

I received the novel pretty quickly and immediately began to read.

After the first ten pages, I was not impressed. After the next twenty, I was getting bored. Now, over eight pages into it, I really do not care at all about this heroine or her story.

I've literally been stuck trying to get through this chick lit novel for over a week, now! That NEVER happens to me!

I also have that awful mindset of believing I must finish a book if I've started it. And feeling like a failure if I do not follow through.

Has anyone else gotten stuck in a book?

I'm getting ready to set it back on the shelf and move on!

Welcome April! A recap of March favorites!

Shall we pretend that I am a highly organized blogger and have not forgotten to do one of these beginning of the month posts since the autumn?

Yes, let's!

Here is what I enjoyed during the month of March.

1. My new iPhone: If it is wrong to be in love with an electronic device, I don't want to be right. I cannot believe how much faster my iPhone is than my Blackberry, and I am continuously finding so many useful apps. I do struggle with texting on the touchscreen, but this has just lead me to less texting and more phone calls. Probably not a bad thing!

2. Trader Joe's: Whenever I shop here, I leave in such a fantastic mood. All of the other shoppers are so polite and happy, and the workers seem so thoughtful and caring. Does anyone else notice the major awesome vibes going on in this grocery store?

3. Shopping with Ben: Ben and I make for one amazing shopping duo. We enjoy the same kinds of stores and have low tolerance for crowds. We make our way through the shops efficiently and with success. A shopping dream team.

4. Sparkling fruit flavored water: I love carbonation. I crave it. I need it. The fruit flavored sparkling water gives me that fizz without the guilt of pop. Very nice!

5. I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella: When I pre-ordered Sophie Kinsella's latest novel, I was a bit hesitant as I read the plot synopsis. Her last independent novel, Twenties Girl, was not my cup of tea, and I was worried I wouldn't like I've Got Your Number either. Oh, how Sophie Kinsella amazed and entertained me! This was one of my favorite novels of hers yet! Go reserve it at your library NOW.

6. BB cream: I've completely stopped using foundation because of this stuff. And that is a miracle. I still have breakouts, but I've noticed that my skin feels firmer and healthier. It even seems to glow sometimes! When I run out of my Clinique cream, I may try out a different brand, but oh man do I love BB cream!

7. Birchbox: I received my first Birchbox in March, and I cannot say enough about how fun I think this service is. It's just neat to receive something in the mail, and I love being able to try out products that I'd never know about otherwise. I ended up buying the full size of an organic facial cleanser and skin renewing teas.

I believe April is going to be a very good month indeed! And I'm an intuitionist. I'm good about calling these things.

The only downside is that this April, there will not be a royal wedding to look forward to.
