What's your favorite foundation?

Remember when I blogged all about my skin aha moment?
Not me.
Well, it turns out that was a false alarm.

Awkward.

I had stopped using all of my acne products in hopes of moisturizing my skin (it was really dehydrated from all of the salicylic acid) and consequently suffering from fewer breakouts.

My skin is now soft and silky, but my breakouts are out of control.

I have begun a new skin routine that combines both gentle products and a few harsher, acne-fighting ones.

Let's hope it works.

In the meantime, I desperately need suggestions for a good foundation. I would like one that covers acne well.

What kind of foundation do you use?

Wednesday Weigh-In: Triumph!

After weeks of gaining and losing the same three pounds (which is one of the most frustrating things ever), I finally stepped on the scale today and saw a number I had long been coveting.

139.

I am officially in the 130s with my weight!

It is a very exciting feeling.

Want to know what is just as exciting?

I now get this beautiful ring from my mom.
Oh yes.

35.5 pounds down and only 4.5 to go!

Amazing.

Last Friday Night

Last Friday night, my roommates and I did not max out our credit cards nor did we take too many shots or dance on tabletops.

Sorry Katy Perry.

But we had an incredibly relaxing night that felt long overdue for all of us.

We began our night by walking up to campus and picking up food from all of our favorite restaurants. Two of my roommates got Panera and the remainder of us were dying for Indian food. If you were curious, I got chicken korma with a spicy level of 4 out of 6, and my mouth almost died. We brought our takeout home and all ate together around the dining room table.

Afterwards, the six of us piled into my one roommate's Lumina (I sat on the little sliver of a seat in the front center) and took a Target trip. I only bought Ibuprofen and eyeliner, which is borderline sad, but my checking account probably appreciated that.

On the way home, we stopped by Starbuck's and all got our autumn drinks. I tried a salted caramel mocha latte for the first time, and it was love (although my heart still belongs to pumpkin spice lattes).

We ended our night with a lot of lifechatting and catching up on the latest Office episode.

It was the perfect way to end our first week back to classes!

Mes lunettes de soleil

So remember a few weeks ago when I was in utter agony trying to resist the Kate Spade online sale?

Well, I held out until the end of the sale. Hurrah for me!

Then, less than 48 hours later, I broke down and bought a pair of full priced Kate Spade sunglasses.

Oh well.

Here are my new sunglasses!

I really love the smaller frame size and fun colors.

What do you think?

Free hug? No thanks!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, this past Wednesday was my first day back to class.

That afternoon, I was walking back to my house after my American Literature class when I saw one terrifying sight.

There were dozens of women dressed in black shirts screaming, "FREE HUGS!!!!"
Please respect my personal space and get away from me.
My stomach dropped. The scary people were directly in my path home. What was I going to do?

I put my head down to avoid eye contact and hurried up my pace.

"You!!! Bring it on in! Come on! Get a free hug!" One of them barbarically shouted at me.

Oh no! They had spotted me!!!

I walked even faster, accidentally stepping in a huge puddle. My poor foot was soaked wet, but I couldn't stop now.

Then, I tripped and lost my shoe. I knew then that it was too late for me.

"Would you like a free hug?"

I looked up and sighed, "Sure."

The stranger hugged me, and then I walked in defeat to Starbuck's and bought myself an iced pumpkin spice latte to cheer up.

I belong (finally)

I have been through a lot of majors during my college career.

International Studies, International Business, French, and now English (with a minor in International Business).

I was also once a Judaic Studies minor. Possibly the only Catholic in the program.

But anyway.

The first few days of this quarter have reminded me how much I love being an English major. All of my previous majors never felt right. I was too idealistic for business. I couldn't speak French (though in my defense, I am quite good at reading and writing the language), which is a pretty huge problem if you're planning on majoring in the subject...

And in all of these programs, I never felt like I belonged. I hardly ever bonded with my classmates, and I always felt somehow out of place.

When I walk into my English classes, I know at least 2/3 of my peers. We say "hello" outside of class, and I consider many of these classmates to be friends.

I also love the fact that my professors finally know and care about me.

Wild.

Arguably most importantly, I feel passionate about what I am studying. I get excited before going to class, and I think it's incredible to be surrounded by people who feel the same way about English.

I love being an English major.

I will choose to ignore this song from "Avenue Q"...you can do a lot with a BA in English! ;)

Wednesday Weigh-In

Today is the first day of class on my college campus.

On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I only have one class from 2-2:50. It's very lame, but with only two quarters left, there isn't much choice left in my class schedule.

Anyway, I know I should make the twenty minute walk to the rec center and get a good workout in this morning, but this overcast weather and hot cup of tea are really urging me to stay home.

Not to mention the fact that this year my school has its biggest enrollment ever (a fact just reported to me by my roommate), and I honestly do not want to walk around campus looking like I just rolled out of bed. Because I did just roll out of bed.

Oh, vanity.
I look like this right now. No exaggeration. Except my makeup-less face really adds a certain je ne sais pas.
Weight today: 141 pounds

Considering I am up one pound from last Sunday, maybe I should suck it up and walk to the gym...

33.5 pounds down and 6.5 to go!
