Monday Packages

As blatantly expressed alluded to in my previous post today, I have been feeling quite stressy and in a bad mood due to the final weeks of this academic quarter. Then, the wonderful UPS truck drove down my street, and my good spirits were instantly restored.

I finally received my two Lush packages I've been waiting for, and I am so excited to use my new bath bombs. Ever since my "Think Pink" bath on Saturday, I've been dying to use another bath bomb. I feel like this is going to be an expensive habit of mine...
Yesss!
In my first box was a Russian doll bath bomb!!! I don't know if I have mentioned this before, but I'm obsessed with Russian dolls. My dad brought me one home one time when he went to Moscow, and I've loved them ever since. When I saw the Russian doll bath bomb on Lush's website, obviously I had no choice but to buy it. It is actually a series of bath bombs organized like a Russian doll- with the smallest in the middle and then gradually growing in size. She even has a handkerchief around her head! ADORABLE.
My other Lush package was filled with three sets of Christmas bath bombs. I really did well in the post-holiday sale, which is crazy since I ordered these things in February.
It looks like I have many lovely baths ahead of me. Lush is also awesome in that they always include free samples with your purchases. Today, I got a number of little soaps to try out from pineapple to "Temptation" (What does that even mean?). This was exactly what I needed to get through the next few weeks!! Hooray! :)

Scary next few weeks...

Somehow, it is already week 10 of my winter quarter! I have no idea how since I feel like it should only be week 5 or so, yet here I am (not) ready to face all of the end of the quarter work. The last week of the quarter + exam week = worst time EVER. This quarter, I am fortunate in that a few of my classes' final papers/exams shouldn't be dreadfully difficult, but I still am stressing about the other classes' work. Two of my English classes have final papers AND a final exam due, which I think is completely unfair and also unnecessary. Basically, I am going to be miserable this week completing those two long papers only to have to be just as miserable next week preparing for the exams. It's cruel, n'est-ce pas?

This will be me- minus the Red Bull and plus Diet Coke Lime

I make myself feel all stressed out and freaked out when I think about how little sleep I am going to get in these next ten or so days. Last quarter I had exams the entire exam week- it was absolutely terrible and mean. This quarter, I am done on Tuesday, and then I will be off to Chicago for five days to visit with friends and celebrate St. Patrick's Day :) That is definitely going to be serving as my motivation to get through all of the end of the quarter work.

How Lush!

Oh man- am I tired! Today was a very busy day at work. Saturdays are always busy days at the salon, but today was especially crazy. All of the stylists were completely booked, there were a ton of walk-in customers buying product, and the phones were ringing off the hook! It was still a nice day, though, and the day flew by since I was so busy.

Tonight after working out (I have this new workout routine where I watch the "weight" section from the Oprah 25th Anniversary DVD set while I do the treadmill- it is so motivating to watch the weight loss stories, and Oprah is always inspiring for me!), I rewarded myself with the most glorious bath. I bought a Lush bath bomb yesterday (I am actually expecting a shipment of Lush bath bombs next week- they had this amazing sale of all of their holiday merchandise! Awesome!), and I used it today. This is what it looked like before I dropped it into the tub:
After I dropped it into the hot water, it fizzed and foamed until eventually, the entire tub full of water was PINK. There were also tons of heart shaped pieces swirling around in the water. I'm not sure a bath has ever made me that happy before. It was absolutely beautiful!!!!!

Tonight, I am staying in and getting some homework done. I am also bonding with my little brother while my parents are out of town and watching some good and addictive Degrassi: In Too Deep. It's been raining all day yesterday and today, and I must admit- it feels nice and cozy to stay in :)

Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of the weekend!

Sick as a dog

I have had a cold coming on for a few days now, and by the time I went to bed (for a rejuvenating three hours of sleep) last night, I felt absolutely miserable. Around 4AM, I woke up to the sound of Ellie gagging. It was not a choking gag, but a "I am going to throw up at any moment" gag. I hurriedly moved Ellie's head to the side of my bed, and she vomited up an entire sock (!!!!!!!). I'm sorry to share that disgusting story with you, but I just had to. My dog somehow ate and then vomited back up an entire sock. Wow.

Anyway, when my alarm went off this morning, I was beyond tired and feeling much, much worse. All I wanted to do was drink some Nyquil and sleep the entire day. Unfortunately, I had a full day of classes and a paper due today so staying home from school wasn't quite an option. I spent my entire day blowing into a hankie (I know, I know- everyone thinks handkerchiefs are très grotesque, but I don't care. I just can't justify using a billion tissues) and applying chapstick to my lips and nose. I look absolutely terrible with my running nose, cough, and zero makeup.
Look at that nose!
PS I'm not actually this sad- I just thought it would look silly smiling.
I can't wait to snuggle up in bed and fall asleep now!! Here is hoping to a better (and healthier) tomorrow :)

Yoga-to try it!

This morning, I finally made it out of bed in time to join my mom and aunt for one of their Yoga classes. The only times I had done Yoga before were during high school gym class (We also did Thai Chi, Pilates, and Tae Bo!) and through DVDs. This was my first formal Yoga class, and I was a little worried going into it. I imagined all of these limber women standing on their heads!!

Ouch!
Luckily, we had a really nice and understanding instructor who helped guide me along for my first Yoga course. I was a little embarrassed when she first called me out on tweaking a few of the positions, but then I got over it and enjoyed myself. My legs felt all jelloid afterwards, but I loved how stretched out and relaxed I felt! It was also nice being to spend that time with my mom and aunt. Oh, and I was THRILLED that I finally got to use the Yoga mat I just had to buy from Forever21 this past winter. See? I always knew I'd get around to using it.

Pet Peeved

Today at school, I seemed to encounter just about every one of my "class" pet peeves. They are as follows (in no special order):

1. Obvious and constant texting in class- I don't mind it when people pull out their cell phones to occasionally send out a text or whatever, but when they literally are looking down at their laps the ENTIRE class and tapping away? Rude and annoying. I just find it very inconsiderate to the professor to spend the entire class texting.

2. Chewing gum- I can't stand that terrible smack smack sound while I'm trying to listen to a professor speak or just do my work. I don't like the sound of chewing in general, but it especially irks me when I'm in class. Why can't people just chew with their mouthes closed?

Gum chewers in my classes are not as cute and innocent looking as this petit garcon. Also, they do not blow bubbles. Thank gosh.

3. People who bring odorous and elaborate lunches to class- I find it annoying (and gross) when people bring lunches with really strong smells to class. Most of the time, these lunches are also way too grand for the occasion. Just bring a sandwich or granola bar if you're that hungry, and please refrain from bringing a five course meal that smells bad and that will take you the entire 90 minute class period to eat.

4. Consistently tardy people- I sound like a professor here, but I truly find it rude when some students literally come to every class late. It is so distracting. Everyone has days when they're running behind but arriving super late each class is just lame.

5. A mute class- How awkward is it when almost nobody in the class volunteers to talk?? It just creates this super uncomfortable atmosphere, and I cannot stand sitting there through it.

On a much more positive note, the dreamiest professor I ever had (Spring quarter 2010; he is French-need I say more?) recognized me in the hall today and said hello. I just about melt, melt, melted. Also, we watched "Atonement" today in one of my English classes. I didn't like that film the first time I saw it, but I enjoyed it quite a bit this time.

Hilarious video- I love this little girl!

So I've seen this YouTube video posted a few times on Facebook now, and it cracks me up every time. How cool, adorable, and funny is this little girl??

I couldn't agree more!!! :) Sounds like she's going to be quite an independent and successful lady!
